Founder & Director
AMANDA CRECELIUS grew up in a small town in southern Indiana. Her mother, an elementary school teacher, taught her a love for reading, learning, and teaching. Her father, a small business owner of a mechanic shop, taught her the value of caring for others, the merits of being independent, and working hard. After living in Spain and Mexico for 13 years, she returned to Indiana with her husband and daughter. Despite being a Spanish-speaking family, their daughter stopped speaking Spanish within three months of returning, unintentionally distancing herself from her native language and culture.
Amanda, inspired by her daughter's language loss, founded Alianza Education & Estamos y Somos to support Spanish development and connection to Latine/Hispanic culture. With over 20 years of educational experience, she aims to create Spanish programs across Indiana and beyond, emphasizing vocabulary and cultural connections. Her goal is to empower Latine/Hispanic children to envision leadership roles and contribute positively to their communities through partnerships with various organizations.
AMANDA CRECELIUS: "I know that many parents are experiencing this and want to find ways to connect and participate. If my child and I do not share a language, how can we share in our traditions? How do we build and curate our shared culture? How do we contribute and participate in our community?"
